AI Security Heats Up: Pluto Security Exits Stealth With $42M and Opsin Raises $21M

Key takeaways

  • Pluto Security came out of stealth with $42M to secure the AI tools and agents employees build themselves.
  • Opsin reportedly raised $21M to govern agents across enterprise AI platforms through their APIs.
  • The two companies are betting on different control points: the endpoint versus the platform.
  • Securing AI agents has become one of the fastest-growing corners of cybersecurity.

As employees build their own AI tools and agents, security teams are struggling to see what exists, what it can access and what it is doing. Two startups raised money in the same week to fix that.

Pluto Security: $42M to secure the AI workspace

Pluto Security emerged from stealth on October 13 with $42 million in total funding: a $34 million Series A led by Jump Capital and an $8.5 million seed round led by TLV Partners. The company says it already has more than $2 million in annual recurring revenue and over 40 enterprise customers.

Pluto focuses on the AI apps, automations and agents that employees build themselves, often outside formal IT processes, and works at the endpoint to find and control them.

Opsin: governing agents through platform APIs

Opsin reportedly raised $21 million, led by SYN Ventures and Race Capital, according to cybermerge. Opsin connects through APIs to enterprise AI platforms, including Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Studio, Claude Enterprise, ChatGPT Enterprise and Gemini, and maps each agent's purpose, identity, data access and behaviour so it can flag risky changes.

The most likely outcome is that large organisations will need both kinds of visibility, which is why investors are backing multiple approaches at once.

Why AI security is heating up

  • Shadow AI is everywhere. Teams adopt AI tools faster than security reviews can keep up.
  • Agents act, not just answer. An agent with access to email, files or customer data can cause real damage if misconfigured.
  • Regulation and audits are coming. Companies need to show who owns each agent and what it can do.

What it means for SaaS companies

If your product includes AI features or agents, security questionnaires will increasingly ask how they are governed. Publishing clear, specific information about permissions, data handling and audit logs shortens enterprise sales cycles and helps AI assistants describe your product accurately. Our AI visibility work includes making sure that information is easy to find and cite.

Funding details as reported in the coverage linked above. Opsin's round is based on a single report.
